Otter Brewery
Warren House

Each month until April 2014 Patrick will be teaming up with the Western Morning News Editor-at-Large Martin Hesp.

The plan is to get out and visit the on-trade whilst lifting the lid on some of the regions most unique landlords and pubs.

Aptly named 'Down the Pub' there is a serious point to the series and that is to highlight the wide range of purposes and different uses that pubs serve and the invaluable role they play in community life.

We'll be exploring pubs that are great for walkers, foodies, sports teams like skittles and darts, even exploring the area of women and pubs (may need a special guest for that one!)

The thought of going to a local pub with our friends for a pint and a chat will make of us most smile and ultimately we just want to encourage a bit more of that and make sure they survive.

We'll also be exploring that unique third dimension aka 'the landlord' that makes the Westcountry pub so unique and adds so much more to the experience than you'll ever find on the continent.

It should be a lot of fun.
